Picked me up some sand to fill the steel frame. Put it under some plastic to dry.

This is a plasmatable i built several years back, it worked damn good :)

It had an automatic torch height system based on tip voltage and a double z axis for measuring the tip height.

It was fast to 25000mm/m maybe faster if the controller software had allowed it.

Heres a shot of the linear trucks built using ball-bearings worked well but i wouldnt redo it today.

Temporarly hooked up and ready to cut, missing the torch tho.

Mounted a pen and let it print a drawing, looked cool but the tip wore out.

And the final pic its a tub i made, this is placed under the table and fills with water to bind all that nasty dust.

I made alot of reinforements to this table other than that you see in these pics unfortunatly i have no pictures of that but there was alot. If your thinking of building something like this make it sturdy, there might not be any mill cutter forces at work but keeping a somewhat constant speed and cutting into a corner then theres some serious weights that needs to start and stop at once.

Lets see do we have any movies in the archive well heres one, no thc or touch of in this movie just a constant height and 10mm steel plate.

This is my latest build, a "gantry style router". The picture is just a rough sketch of the outlines but this is the plan so far.

Travels: X ~1400mm Y ~1000mm Z ~300mm

X will be driven by 2 4x16mm trapezoidal screws via belt to a servo.

Y will have the same screw as X and either a servo or a stepper driving it.

Z -"- stepper driven since i dont need much speed here, it will be geared down via a belt for greater accuracy in z.

0-~10000rpm spindle with atc, high/low gearbox driven by a ~1kW motor and a VFD. 4th and maybe 5th axis will be added later.

Heres an in action shot the piece being milled is aluminium i dont know much more no speed or feeds the cutter is a homemade one ~80mm

And some movies offcourse, this is it drilling aluminium wuth a 6mm drill. The frame is only tacked togheter and if you look closely you can see all the deflextion as the drill goes thru.

Heres the movie the above picture is from.

Milling steel for the first time, 6, 8 or 10 mm cutter rpm is high and feed is low its 0.5mm per pass fullwidth.

Moving one axis to the end and back, i found the indicator in a trashcan so it might not be to accurate :)
